Recently, a friend shared that she has a difficult time finding her value in life. In my eyes, she is a wonderful wife, mom and friend. In fact, one of my most giving friends – I could call her anytime and know she would help. Her comment got my “fix it” wheels turning and all I wanted to do was convince her of her incredible worth. My goal was to find all the ways God saw her as beautiful and wonderful and begin texting them to her. Then I heard God clearly say, “Nancy – you need to believe them for yourself first.” Ouch!
You see my identity is easily wrapped up in what others think of me, why “friends” unfollow me and how easy it is to see the beauty in others yet not in myself. I am finding that we cannot give others advice that we are not already following or living out ourselves. Double Ouch!! So my sweet friend, you know who you are, this one is for you, for me and anyone out there who needs a gentle reminder of how God created, loves, values and takes care of you:
Wonderfully – He created us wonderfully! Psalm 139:14
Provided for – He gives us everything we need. Philippians 4:19
Safety – He is our Protector. Psalm 46:1
Forgiven – He forgives all our dumb/weird/selfish choices. I John 1:9
Our Future – He has a calling and plan for each of us. Jeremiah 29:11
Loved – He always loves us. Romans 8:38-39
