Today is officially fall and as my daughter Mia pointed out, summer is over – it’s time to blog! Here we are, still in a pandemic and an election on the horizon. Honestly, I would like to keep my head in the sand and in summer mode a few more months. It is time though, to get back into living intentionally and embracing the new season as odd as it might all feel.
I am excited to share a few things I have come across that have inspired me recently in the hopes they inspire you as well! First – if you have not heard Danny Gokey’s (yes, from American Idol) new song “Love God Love People” – stop now and enjoy!
Maria Shriver’s Sunday Newspaper talks about her friend going silent because she felt she no longer had anything to say. This resonated with me as you see so many negatives during this time – so many people giving up – giving up on relationships. It can deflate our hope. It helped me grasp that now is not to the time to stop sharing, encouraging and speaking up for the good in humanity. The more we love each other with our kind words, the more hope we begin to spread.
Another favorite that has resurfaced with the extra time is reading. As I was reading a devotional the other day a verse stopped me in my tracks. It was as if God highlighted it for me and I LOVE when that happens. The verse is Joel 2:25a – “I will repay you for the years the locusts have eaten”. I don’t know about you, but there have been many years of my life “eaten” – call it lost, or what feels like wasted. You may feel this way about 2020. Just this one sentence felt like a kiss on the cheek from God with a whisper of “I got you girl!”. He’s got you too – don’t forget that! Let’s continue to hope.
There is more exciting news that I can’t wait to share over the upcoming weeks! Stay tuned and watch for more blogs coming out each Tuesday. Why Tuesday? It’s a weird day and this year is a weird year, so it just felt right – HA! Big hugs – Nancy.
