I am missing my girls SO bad lately! Typically I get to see them once every month but COVID means no scheduled Parent’s Weekend and moving means we are busy getting the house ready for them to arrive this Thanksgiving. Thank goodness for FaceTime. It got me thinking that so many of us may be missing our older babies and family members right now and my heart goes out to you.
It also got me thinking of the family members of those running for office and supreme court nominee. The way their families are being treated really hurts my heart these days. I never want to be judged based on my childrens’ greatest successes or worst moments; and let’s be honest – no one wants to see their child’s (no matter what the age) ugliest moments publicized and posted about for all to weigh in on. My friend Charrissa recently shared the most touching post to please stop referring to Amy Coney Barrett’s children as her “adopted children” | “Because when a child is adopted it is an act that happens one time and not an adjective that describes them forever”.
I love family and I love my larger family of friends and my church family. Let us get through these next few weeks with less judgement, fear-based posting and hate and remember God’s desire is simply that we love one another. Big hugs to you my friends!
Verse: I John 4:18a – “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.”
Video: A great 6 minute video from my church pastor about Religion & Politics.
