Literally, my piano is being tuned as I type and what a joy! Not really the middle, boring part where the same note seems to be played constantly until it is perfect; but the concert before and afterwards is beautiful. It makes me think that it is so easy to fall out of tune. Off a bit here, off a bit there – you hardly notice it until we are “off” in so many areas and it feels as though there is no turning back, and we ask ourselves how we got here?!
Another important question is what are we tuning into? As I am learning, what we fill our mind with comes directly out of our mouth. Going silent does not sound so bad – cutting the noise out to recalibrate is wise in this time where we get non-stop information from our TV, phones and watches. I think a great question to ask ourselves after we cut the noise is what do we want to tune back into? What do we really want as a part of our daily life – let us tune into that and that alone.
My hope is to tune into God first. I want to look forward to each day with a curiosity of what He has in store for me with an optimistic hope of the future. Let’s choose joy, love, giving and being kind to others in our paths and on the same journey. May we stay in tune with our Creator and turn off the negativity that can too easily weigh us down.
