I recently came across a song that summed up 2019 for me. While it may seem sad, it really is a message and banner of strength. It is a beautiful song by Donnie McClurkin called Stand:
What do you do
When you’ve done all you can and it seems like it’s never enough
And what do you say when your friends turn away and you’re all alone.
Tell me what do you give
When you’ve given your all and it seems like you can’t make it through
Well you just stand when there’s nothing left to do
You just stand watch the LORD see you through
Yes after you’ve done all you can, you just stand.
Throughout 2019 I have had friends fall away but even more friends have stepped up and out to show their love and support. I still stand strong through the unknown of my marriage and excitedly root on my girls as they start and finish their college adventures. What I know for sure is God loves and has a plan for all of us. There are times when we are running, resting and recovering, and there is a lesson of love in each part of the journey.
I am ready to embrace and step into 2020 with joy. My word for this upcoming year is transfigure – it hit me last night as I was reading 1,000 Gifts by Ann Voskamp. She writes, “Darkness transfigures into light, bad transfigures into good, grief transfigures into grace, empty transfigures into full. God wastes nothing – ‘makes everything work out according to His plan’ (Ephesians 1:11).”
Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays my friends!
