Trust – a tough word. It’s beautiful when you have it and can be devastating when you do not. Broken trust in any relationship is like shattered glass. In many cases, you cannot just glue it back together – you have to make a new glass. Then I wonder, do I even want a new glass if it will only shatter again? Can you make glass stronger, or do we always stay vulnerable to it breaking?
Trust in our friendships is just as fragile. We trust our friends, but friendships change often leaving us wondering what we did wrong. Many times trusting others will leave us disappointed and with a distorted view of what trust really looks like (or if it is even worth putting effort into).
Like love, trust is something only perfected in Christ. I am learning to put all of my trust in Him day by day. Not letting the unanswered texts, “ghosting” (a new word I just learned about) and fizzled friendships get the best of me or my mind. I trust that God is building and healing me. As we look to Him for our definition of trust, He will show us those in our lives we can trust and how we can be more trustworthy to others. Staying focused on Him and undistracted will make us stronger daily 💪🏻

Love this post! For those of us who naturally trust and love people, having trust broken turns us upside down, doubting ourselves and the world. I think the closer we stay to God, the more clarity we have about trusting. The Holy Spirit gives us the guidance if we are willing to really listen. And when we don’t, sometimes, God weeds our “gardens” for us so the flowers grow big and beautiful and we have no doubt they should be there and be tended too. I ask myself a lot, am I watering the weeds or the flowers in my life?

So beautifully said Lora! Sometimes it’s hard to distinguish the weeds from the flowers until they’ve grown, which makes it even more disappointing 🙁 . God is good and I totally agree – we have to stop and listen to Him. Love you my friend!
